E! Entertainment exclames new EVP of Marketing

Steve’s breakdown: The Discovery Channel veteran now directs all advertising and promotions for the NBCUniversal-owned network and its branded platforms. Whether he’ll use an agency is uncertain but a hint is he’s a ex-agency exec himself.

NEW YORK, NY: James Hitchcock officially joins E! Entertainment on Oct. 10, serving as the network’s new executive vice president of marketing.

At E!, Hitchcock will oversee and direct all efforts in marketing, including advertising, promotions and brand alliances across all E! platforms. He reports to E! Entertainment president Suzanne Kolb.

“This is an exciting time for E! and James is the perfect person to evolve the brand and ensure we reach that next level of success,” Kolb said in a statement. “James joins E! with a strong track record of building fresh, innovative global brands that drive growth, and I’m thrilled that he will be leading our talented marketing group whose exceptional work has helped E! get to the fantastic place that it is today.”

Before the move, Hitchcock worked as marketing and branding officer for Discovery Channel, overseeing initiatives in support of Shark Week, Deadliest Catch and documentary series Life.

He previously served as senior vice president of marketing and creative at MTV Networks’ CMT after holding posts at Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners, Chiat Day/TBWA and Fallon McElligott Berlin, where his account work included brands like Target, Coca-Cola and Volkswagen.
