Marketing department shake up at TimeWarner

Steve’s breakdown: There was so much movement in the marketing department at TimeWarner, it’s almost like shooting fish in a barrel to find some kind of project to get your foot in the door.

NEW YORK, NY: Time Warner is promoting Kristen O’Hara to Chief Marketing Officer and has hired Michael Benson, ABC (NYSE: DIS) Marketing’s former co-chief, as Chief Creative Officer in the company’s Global Media Group.

Benson and O’Hara will co-lead Time Warner’s in-house, creative marketing and advertising group, succeeding former Global Media Group head Mark D’Arcy, who defected to Facebook in March as the social network’s director of global creative solutions.

O’Hara has been with the GMG since 2004, most recently held the title of SVP/managing director. Benson had worked at VH1/MTV before signing on at ABC in 1998 as SVP, Advertising and Promotion, eventually becoming the network’s EVP of Marketing, in June 2009

The hiring of Benson and the promoting of O’Hara has also created openings for two other staffers, as David Statman has been promoted to VP of Creative, GMG, and Amy Swanson Sillan has been promoted to VP of Marketing Strategy, GMG.
