Steve’s breakdown: Post has been around for a long time. So I think this new position is even more of a big deal. Look for the university to step up their social media marketing in addition to their traditional efforts.

WATERBURY, CT: Post University, a traditional university with an excellent online program, announced today it has promoted Marcelo Parravicini to Chief Marketing Officer.

The promotion recognizes the significant contribution Mr. Parravicini has made to increasing the visibility of Post University as one of the nation’s oldest higher education institutions and a leader in providing online education options for working adults. During his tenure, the University’s student population has grown from fewer than 1,000 students in 2004 to more than 7,000 today. Mr. Parravicini previously served as Post University’s Director of Marketing, a role he held since joining Post in 2005. The Chief Marketing Officer role is a newly-created position at Post University.

Prior to joining Post University, Mr. Parravicini spearheaded the creation of a Search Engine Marketing department at Refinery, Inc., which resulted in a new revenue stream for the enterprise within 30 days. Before this, Mr. Parravicini was a manager of Strategy Consulting at Medical Broadcasting Company (now Digitas Health) where he formulated interactive/web-based strategies for the pharmaceutical industry. He also was the Marketing Director at The Medi Group, Ltd. where he executed interactive marketing campaigns as early as 1997.

“Through a carefully crafted integrated marketing strategy Marcelo has been instrumental in increasing the University’s share of voice in a very crowded landscape,” said Tom Samph, Ph.D., Chancellor of Post University. “He is an expert at student cultivation and conversion through online and traditional marketing strategies.”

Parravicini added, “The pace of change in marketing is breathtaking. Every day new tools emerge that enable us to connect with students in a deeper and more personal way. It’s essential that we embrace these changes and constantly innovate, not only so we can stand out in a crowded market, but so we can provide students with the information they need to make an informed choice about which institution is right for them.”

Marcelo Parravicini holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
