Rolling out the red carpet: Inspirato Appoints new Chief Marketing Officer

Steve’s breakdown: With the new CMO coming from Dish, I suspect he’s going to be highly aggressive with their marketing and I do see an opportunity for an agency with luxury travel experience.

DENVER, CO: Inspirato, the destination club for a new generation of luxury consumers, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Ira Bahr as its Chief Marketing Officer.

“Ira’s vision and understanding of consumer-facing brands will help propel Inspirato into the next phase of growth and success,” said Brent Handler, CEO of Inspirato. “Over the next five years — with Ira at the marketing helm — Inspirato will redefine the luxury vacation and become the primary vacation resource for a new generation of uncompromising guests.”

Prior to joining Inspirato in December 2011, Bahr was the Chief Marketing Officer at Dish Network, the third largest provider of pay television in the U.S. with more than 14 million subscribers. As head of Dish’s marketing division, Bahr was responsible for customer acquisition, customer retention, product technology and corporate communications.

Earlier in his career, Bahr worked at Sirius Satellite Radio as the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Alliances and Communications. Moreover, Bahr was responsible for naming the company “Sirius” after the brightest star in the night sky.

“While this opportunity is exciting, it’s also rare,” explained Bahr. “I’m reminded of my days at Sirius when the brand was transforming radio. I believe Inspirato is pioneering and revolutionizing the travel industry. From providing the very best in service to offering amazing worldwide destinations at incredible value, Inspirato will make luxury travel easier, better and less expensive than ever before.”

Bahr began his career at BBDO, one of the world’s largest advertising agencies. He ultimately rose to Senior Vice President and Worldwide Account Director, working with such clients as FedEx, Pepsi-Cola and General Electric.

Bahr holds a B.A. degree from Columbia University in New York City.
