Stop Junk Mail & Save a Democracy
This is not an advertising lead y’all, just an idea I had to get off my chest.
As Americans, we all want our vote to count but during a pandemic, going to the polls is just not a great idea. So what left? Vote by Mail but the way things are going, that might not work 100% of the time.
So here’s an idea.
Let’s stop junk mail. Let’s contact every company that sends us mail we don’t need and request to be taken off their mailing list. It will save those companies money and increase their acquisition rates.
And hey Direct Marketers, as a career advertising executive, I know what I’m about to suggest might sting but Take a Break! Let’s say from October 3rd to Election day – just to give the Post Office a little breathing room. And make a big deal of the fact you’re taking this break. Put out the press release, get on the talk shows, the whole megillah. The PR will do more for your company than any mail could do.
Here, I’ll start your press release off for ya: “We are taking a month off of sending marketing material through the USPS to ease the burden during this election season and thus help the country have free & fair elections.”
Then after the November 3rd, get crazy!
And to the Postal Service:
In return for your lost revenue from junk mail, we’ll all start sending real mail like:
and even Love Letters
All of this to save some trees and maybe a democracy!
